Frequently Asked Questions:

How Does it Work?

The 'speaker' teacher, carer or person wanting to be heard has the 'transmitter' worn by lanyard or can be placed in a pocket. The transmitter links to the receiver by using 800MHZ which can be used globally.

The 'listener' can wear the earpiece by placing over the ear or inserting into the ear defender.

The 'speaker' turns the transmitter on and clips the microphone to clothing to pick up the voice. The voice is then amplified to the 'listener' providing a crystal-clear audio from within the ear defender which has reduced the outside noise by 25dB.

How are they powered?

Both the transmitter and receiver are rechargeable. The pack is provided with two usb recharging leads. From a full charge, the transmitter lasts approximately 20 hours and the earpiece 6 to 8 hours of use.

Can more than 1 person have an ear piece?

Yes. The system has been designed to support multiple receivers. The system is able to support more than 50 earpieces! The receivers can be purchased separately.

Will the ear pieces fit in different ear defenders?

Yes, the earpiece has been designed to fit inside the provided ear defenders and will fit inside many other common products but is not guaranteed to do so.

Can the volume be controlled?

Yes, the earpiece has volume buttons which can be adjusted on the earpiece.

How far away can the listener be?

The system will provide clarity of up to 200 meters. Transmitting through walls will reduce this distance.

Being Able To Focus

When wearing ear defenders to reduce environmental noise, the wearer can naturally feel disconnected from the teacher, friends, or family. By wearing ear defenders, it makes it more difficult to differentiate between sounds and separate conversations. For example, If sat in a restaurant, you may want to listen/focus on listening to the person on your table. The table next to you also has people talking. Ordinarily you can ‘filter’ out this unwanted conversation and focus on the person you want to hear, but, if wearing ear defenders or if suffering with reduced hearing such as having blocked ears this becomes very difficult to do.
